This year, the Wild West Days Planning Committee has chosen its annual event which honors the service men and women of Arizona, who have given their lives or become disabled in the line of duty. This event is The Walk for 100.
Our hope is that The Walk for 100 will commemorate and keep close to our hearts the spirit of these brave individuals. Wild West Days is working in conjunction with the 100 Club of Arizona to make this event a great success, as well as to provide sponsorship dollars to benefit The 100 Club.
The Walk for 100 will be held at 9:00am Saturday, Nov. 6th . It will be comprised of service men and women, on horseback and on foot, walking in silence from the intersection of Cave Creek Rd. & School House Rd., in honor of their peers who have fallen or become disabled in the line of duty.
We request that all participants dress in uniform for The Walk. Each station or unit is encouraged to carry their banner or have a color guard. Mounted Firefighters and Police will carry our state flag, the American flag and act as marshals for The Walk. Our Parade Marshal is state historian Marshall Trimble. Also attending are Cave Creek Mayor Vincent Francia, and Governor Janice Brewer. The route is approximately 0.8 mile, and will end at the Buffalo Chip Saloon.
Immediately following, there will be a Cowboy Church prayer ceremony, and all participants in The Walk will be served a full chuckwagon breakfast, which has been graciously donated by Larry Wendt, owner of the Buffalo Chip, and 9-year Board Member of The 100 Club.
