Cave Creek is less than an hour from downtown Phoenix, located in the desert foothills at the northern edge of the metro Phoenix area. View a map in Google.
There are three major ways to get to Cave Creek from metro Phoenix; via I-17 North, via AZ-51 North, or via AZ-101 Loop North.
West Valley and I-17 Directions
Go north on the I-17 Black Canyon Freeway and get to Cave Creek Road one of two ways:
Option A:
- Exit 214C to merge onto the AZ-101 Loop East.
- Drive 4.8 miles to exit 28, and head north (left) onto Cave Creek Road.
- Drive approximately 12 miles to Cave Creek.
Option B:
- Exit 223B and head east (right) on AZ-74 W/Carefree Highway.
- Drive 10 miles to Cave Creek Road and head north (left).
- Drive approximately 2 miles to Cave Creek.
Central Phoenix and AZ-51 North directions
- Drive north on the AZ-51 N and take exit 15B to merge onto the AZ-101 Loop West (not East!).
- Drive 1.8 miles on the 101 Loop West to the Cave Creek Road exit, #28.
- Go north (right) on Cave Creek Road.
- Drive approximately 12 miles to Cave Creek.
East Valley and AZ-101 Loop North directions
- Go North on AZ-101 Loop North to exit 34 for Scottsdale Road.
- Go north (right) on Scottsdale Road.
- Travel approximately 12 miles, and through Carefree, to Cave Creek Road.
- Turn left on Cave Creek Road and you’re there!
